When I first stepped onto the wrestling mat, I carried one dream in my heart—to win an Olympic medal for my country. I dedicated years of hard work, sweat, and sacrifice to that goal. I walked the path toward Olympic glory not once, not twice, but three times, yet destiny had different plans for me.
I was the first Indian woman wrestler to reach an Olympic final, the first Indian woman to win three Commonwealth Games gold medals, and the only Indian woman wrestler with multiple World Championship medals. I became the first Indian woman wrestler to win a gold medal at the Asian Games. But despite my relentless efforts, I could not achieve the ultimate dream of winning an Olympic medal. I came so close to achieving my dream when I reached the Olympic final—just one step away from glory. But in a heartbreaking twist of fate, destiny snatched it from my hands in a way no one could have ever imagined. The pain of that moment still lingers within me.
However, dreams never truly die; they find new ways to live on. Today, I see thousands of young and talented athletes who share the same dream that once burned within me. They have the passion, the dedication, and the potential to bring glory to our nation. I may not have been able to fulfill my dream of Olympic gold, but I can certainly play a role in helping these aspiring athletes achieve theirs.
With this vision in my heart, I am introducing this NGO—a platform dedicated to nurturing young sportspersons by providing them with the right training, resources, and guidance. I want to be the torchbearer in their journey, supporting them in overcoming challenges and helping them stand tall on the podium where I once envisioned myself.
